Nightingale North East, Sunderland

You can attend Nightingale North East if you have a booked appointment. People without an appointment will not be seen.
Arrive only a few minutes before your appointment time. This helps to ensure a steady flow of appointments through the centre. You can enter the car park no more than 30 minutes before your appointment time.
Please wear short sleeves, so we can vaccinate you easily.
You are welcome to bring a carer, if you need assistance. The centre is fully accessible and wheel chairs are available on site but are limited please speak to staff when you arrive.
In line with Government guidance, social distancing measures are in place at the centre. You must wear a mask, stay one metre away from other people, and clean your hands when you enter the building. Our friendly staff will help you when you arrive and show you the way.
Getting to Nightingale North East
By public transport
Please check with the service operator to make sure you arrive in time for your appointment.
From Chester-le-Street, Washington (Galleries), Concord, Bolden and South Shields Interchange
Go North East service 50 stops at the NHS Nightingale North East on its route between Durham and South Shields. The hospital is the stop after the Nissan factory if you’re heading towards South Shields; the stop before Nissan if you’re heading towards Durham. From Sunderland, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Gateshead
Go North East’s service 56 (Newcastle – Sunderland) would normally be able to stop at NHS Nightingale North East, but can’t currently because of a diversion. We recommend that you get off the 56 at Washington Concord bus station and use the new Connector Shuttle to get to and from NHS Nightingale. 56 timetable is here
From Concord
Go North East’s new Connector Shuttle – providing a frequent service to NHS Nightingale North East from Stand C at Concord bus station, feeding into and out of buses there. Full timetable details are here.
The shuttle is timed to connect with the 56, and runs every 15 minutes. Look out for the specially branded blue bus.

Travelling by car
Nightingale North East on the A1290 (Downhill Lane) next to Nissan Offices and across from the North East Air, Land and Sea Museums. Use postcode SR5 3HX for satnav and follow the Nightingale North East signs when you are close.

Parking is free. You can access the car park at Nightingale North East up to 30 minutes before appointment time. Our security staff will show you where to park. If you arrive more than 30 minutes before your appointment, you will not be able to access the car park. Alternative parking is not available nearby.
There are some major roadworks in the area. These have not been causing delays. Please follow signed diversions.
Please follow all outside footpaths and take care when arriving and departing from the car park to the building. The site has electric charging capability which is free to use. Please leave the site as soon as you return to your vehicle to make room for other visitors.
Blue badge holders
If you are a blue badge holder and are able to use a standard parking bay, please do. That means blue badge holders in wheelchairs and with adapted vehicles have access to limited disabled bays. All parking is close to the main entrance.
Travelling by taxi
If booking a taxi to attend the site, please book a taxi for your return home too. Your taxi will not be allowed to wait on the site.
When you are ready to leave, stay in the waiting area until you are told your taxi is ready for you. Taxi collection will be immediately outside the exit to the building.
Cycling
Cycle parking is available on the site located in the main car park and the site is secure and supported by security staff.
