Message from the Chief Executive 13 March 2020
Thank you once again for your positive and calm response to the developing situation with covid-19. I know that staff across the trust are responding proactively to this new challenge.
You will all have seen the information last night from the Prime Minister, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Officer that we are moving into the ‘delay’ phase of the national plan where we aim to slow the spread of this infection and lower the impact on the NHS.
Important advice for us all is available online https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response.
We have now instigated our pandemic plan which will guide our actions over the next weeks. This is a situation which is well tested in the NHS and we are in a good position to respond.
We will aim to continue to provide business as usual as much as possible. Directorate Managers, Clinical Directors, Matrons and Heads of Corporate Departments are being contacted directly to advise on specific measures to support our operations at this time.
We have created a dedicated area on the intranet available from the banner on the homepage which will be updated daily with relevant clinical information, HR information and any other issues as they arise (including some Frequently Asked Questions which will be posted this afternoon). Our response will be guided by information from the Government and Public Health England. Please ensure you check regularly for the most up to date versions of guidance.
I recognise the anxiety and uncertainty that this places on us all, both professionally and personally. I know that everyone will continue to work together across all of our services to provide the best care for our patients throughout this period.
With best wishes
Dame Jackie Daniel
