Visitors Policy
At Newcastle Hospitals we care for many patients, including the most vulnerable of individuals, and we must provide an appropriate environment for the delivery of high quality safe care, while continuously striving to minimise and reduce the risk of healthcare acquired infections. This month we have updated our visitors policy which includes special arrangements for the management of a pandemic.
Staying connected with friends and family
During the surge in capacity with COVID-19, how we communicate with relatives is changing.
Relatives’ access to patients and communication with clinical staff will often be restricted. It is therefore important that we maintain high standards of communication wherever possible.
We have developed a Keeping in Touch Framework which offers guidance and advice on how to approach the different scenarios staff may find themselves in, together with some suggested models of communication, which we hope you find helpful.
Further information and guidance can be found on the Trust intranet.
